New Data backup software - BuddyBackup
|

|
| Hi all,
Just thought you might be interested in a data backup program I've been
involved with. To quote the website:
"BuddyBackup is a tool which helps you keep your files safe. It does
this by saving copies of them over the internet onto you friends,
family and colleagues' computers. The files are saved in a special form
which means that only you can read them.
In the event of disaster, your lost files are automatically recovered
again, without you having to do anything.
BuddyBackup only takes a few moments to set up and then it can be left
to run. It will keep a constant watch over your files making sure that
whenever you do work, the latest files are backed up."
It's currently free to download to everyone, and will allways remain
free to non commerical users.
Please give it a whirl at www.buddybackup.com

Idea is oke. But the buddy part is not as easy as it sounds.
Many buddies will have routers to setup, firewall, etc.
In case of 'disaster recovery' you need to be at buddie's place?
Seems not much practicle in practice.
Makes more sense to store it remote (on a free or low cost place)
as some normal backuptools do (secure FTP, etc).
Kwello.
