I will be purchasing a new computer. Old computer is running XP SP2
with tons of applications & data. Using Norton Ghost 2003 version,
can I clone contents of old computers hard drive to new computer hard
drive in such a matter that I would NOT have to re-install XP on new
computer?

I have been told that I New Computer would not work with transferred
XP OS & I would have to first install XP and then install application
by application and data on new computer. This would be very
cumbersome.

all replies welcomed! Aaron in N. Hollywood.

No. Due to hardware differences a "repair" install would at least need
to be done.

You could network both computers together and reansfer the data that
way using a KVM switch and 1 keyboard, monitor and mouse.

From http://support.microsoft.com/kb/249694
"Microsoft does not support restoring a system state backup from one
computer to a second computer of a different make, model, or hardware
configuration. Microsoft will only provide commercially reasonable efforts
to support this process. Even if the source and destination computers appear
to be identical makes and models, there may be driver, hardware, or firmware
differences between the source and destination computers."
