Backup Software - DLT 35/70 not compressing

Hi,

Have a digital TZ89 DLT unit connected via SCSI to a Windows XP pro
PC. Using the built in backup software but am only getting 35gb per
tape even though the DLT tapes are IV which is supposed to support
70gb.

A fair chunk of the stuff I'm backing up is compressed but I'm never
getting more than 35gb per tape.

Anyone got any ideas?
