I am looking for some software that will allow me to backup from my local PC
to a specified remote ftp server folder. After the initial backup only
incremental backups will be taken, whenever a file changes, or at a
predetermined time of day or on system shutdown.

I have found some excellent backup utilities but none that fit the bill
perfectly.

I have a number of clients who will be using the application to backup to my
ftp server, so its important that the application does not contain hard
coded remote access information.

If anyone has any suggestions please post here - or if you need
clarification of any of these points.

Thanks

We used PeerSync (PeerSoftware) for a while to keep some web servers
synchronized via FTP. It worked most of the time. Except when it
deleted everything on the target server, or failed to update.

Frankly, rsync (maybe over SSH) works much better and is more reliable.
