| I purchased PC Backup from Stompsoft and have not been able to get it to run
w/o an NSENGINE.exe error. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and updated
to their v7312 upgrade and it still won't run. I have sent support tickets 4
times and never get a reply. I have called and never get a human to answer
the phone. Does anyone know if this product even works and is Stompsoft
really in buisness????

It did not work for me. I bought it, promptly discovered a problem and
submitted a support ticket. After a couple of weeks and no reply, I did
find toll free number to call. (Check their websites support page) After
explaining the problem to someone, I was able to get a refund.
Take a look at NovaStor's NovaBACKUP, <http://www.novastor.com>. IIRC it is
similar to PC Backup, but with two major differences. I had a problem
during the trial and their support worked with me, and it does work.

| If your having these problems now, just imaging what it would be like trying
to get your data back.
Try Backup Exec 10d free for 60 days and see how it works for you. You can
download it at http://www.backupexec.com.

I've wasted a lot of $$ on the Stomp people and never got a response from their
stupid "ticket" things. Don't waste any more time on their software and try for
a refund.

| I have repeatedley called the 800 number on their website and have never got
a human to come on the line, even after about 10 minutes on hold.

Customer support, they don't have any, just look at the dates on the
website support page that say COMING SOON, the last date is July 2005.
I had the same problem and traced it down to the "MS Software Shadow
Copy Provider" and "Volume Shadow Copy" services that would not start.
In my XP PRO sp2 both service are set to MANUAL and I could manually
start the Volume Shadow Copy but not the other one, PCBACKUP attempts
to start these services to backup OPEN files.
The Volume Shadow Copy was easy to repair but to repair the MS Software
Shadow Copy Provider, I had to do a repair install from the XP system
disk ( don't if a Recovery Console repair would work).
After all that work I am now using PCBACKUP to create a disaster
recovery DVD set.
Good Luck.

| I am on XP Homes SP2 and don't think "MS Software Shadow Copy Provider" and
"Volume Shadow Copy" are on my machine. I looked for thrm but only found
shadow.exe. MS says Shadow enables you to remotely control an active
session of another user .
