I am new to Backup Exec software and would like to use the IDR option
but cannot create a bootable CD. Using the IDR wizard creates a
compressed ISO file which I then uncompress and burn to a bootable CD
with Nero. When I boot the CD it loads MSDOS and not the IDR system as I
expected. Help from symantec is totally useless! They refer me to docs
which don't help at all. They must use India for their support.

I am running Windows XP Pro (SP2) with 1GB RAM and 1.5 GHz AMD CPU. I
assume that I should get a Windows Setup screen if I could boot the CD
properly. Can anyone help me with this problem? I'm sure it's something
very simple that I am not doing.

There is information in the ISO that should render the final CD bootable
which should launch the IDR wizard. Why are you uncompressing the image
instead of letting NERO burn the image to a CD. I think that is where your
problem is coming from. You won't necessarily get a windows setup screen,
but you should get a wizard that will walk you through getting the system
back online.

Thanks
Nick
