Bad experience with Stompsoft and PC Backup

| I've used StompSoft's Backup MyPC (BUMP) for four or five years at half
a dozen sites, and have learned how to make it work reliably.
When I went to buy it for a new client, I foolishly bought what
StompSoft was selling as the successor to BUMP, a program called PC
Backup. This turns out to have been a complete failure of due diligence
on my part.
StompSoft apparently offers no actual support for the products it sells.
When I open a support ticket at its website, I get an acknowledging
email, but after one week when I check the website there is no response.
After two weeks, the support ticket is no longer listed on the website.
So I tried phoning. Gave up after 10 minutes of no human response.
A little research reveals the following:
BUMP is owned and still marketed by Sonic
<http://www.roxio.com/en/products/bump/>
PC Backup appears to be a rebranded version of Novastor's NovaBackup
<http://www.novastor.com/pcbackup/backup/n_backup.html>
and Novastor's price is $10 less than Stompsoft's.
I won't be dealing with Stompsoft again.....

I never received a response to a support ticket either.

Try the toll free number from their support page. I used it and did get a
person.

Also NovaStor provides *support*. I emailed back and forth with them about
a problem I had during the trial period. Although it was not resolved by
NovaStor, I pulled the drive from a NAS case and mounted it in my PC, I did
purchase NovaBackup and don't regret it one bit.

Be persistent with the toll free number, and request a refund. I did and it
took one more phone call / email, I don't remember which, to get Stompsoft
to email me the Letter of Destruction to facilitate the refund.

| BUMP never was a top product.
If you want a file based backup, use Retrospect.
Otherwise, look at Ghost 10, Acronis True Image 9, the recently released
Norton Save and Restore (requires at least windoze XP).
