Backup 9.1 and 10 not sending notifications
|
|
| Nicola 2005-11-01, 8:00 am |
| Hi,
I have 7 servers inhouse running Windows 2000 and 2003 Server with
Backup Exec 10 v5520 installed.
I also have 7 client servers running Windows SBS 2003 and a mixture of
Backup Exec 9.1 and 10.
Notifications have been running fine when for some bizarre reason all
the emails that I would expect to receive didn't come through this
morning.
I have looked at all 14 Servers and in the job details the ticks had
been taken out of the notification part of the job.
I have turned these back on and tested it and it now notifies me fine.
Is this some freaky Halloween trick or a setting somewhere that turns
this off after a period of time?
Can someone help me?
Thanks
Nicola

| Could it be related to the time change that occurred due to daylight
savings?
Thanks
Nick

This happened to me also on our 9.1 and 10.0 servers - Thought i was going
mad!!!
It didnt happen on the two 8.5 servers we have and they are still sending
notifications fine.
Daylight saving time began the week before so i doubt it was that.
Very strange - anyone know why this happened?

| I have been speaking to Veritas about this and they have said that it
is because of Daylight Savings and they haven't got a fix....Great..!!!

| Daylight savings currently only happens twice a year. As a work around you
can avoid running jobs during that time until a fix is available. If you
still run jobs, you may see some intermitent minor problems like time is off
by 1 hour, or notifications don't get sent, but your data will still be
protected. I don't see that as a earth shattering, especially since Daylight
savings may go away anyways.

In the "Notifications" setup, try putting your email address in the "From
Address (Optional)" field.
