I'm using Acronis True Image 8. Which is excellent. Is it worth
upgrading to 9?

Does TI 8 have incremental backups?

Does TI 8 allow you to choose which files to RESTORE from an "image" backup.

Can you backup, as well as recover, when booted using a recovery CD?

Do NOT buy on ebay.

You need to have a legitr license to download the latest builds.
Do NOT install the crappy build 2323 that comes with he retail version,
justy buy it, and register at Acronis web site to download latest build.

In recent months Newegg has had the best price for version 9.

Their telephone support is very questionalble with limited command
of the english language and no follow up after one week to an open
issue.

I struggled with Norton Save and Restore for the better part of a week,
and could not get a backup to complete without "server threw an
exception" from MS XP Home. I mean, I did everything to clean up and
check out my system and nothing could be found that was outta whack. I
was dowloading drivers, doing clean boots, you name it. I paid for a
valid license and the support stunk. Yes it is offshore. So what, it
doesn't have to be bad, just because of that.

Then, I got the 15-day free trial of Acronis TI 9.0 download, and
it ran like a charm. I backed up 19 gigs to 15 CDs. Took 3 hrs. No
problem, I was so happy to pop those disks in every 15 minutes. !! I
cannot say I 've tested the restore, which I believe should be done,
before recommending a product. But I have a huge sense of relief at
this point, that at least *something* out there could do the job. I
have a 1 yr old top of the line Dell laptop. Nothing weird about it.
