| Hello everyone. I'm trying to find some software that will be able to
backup my primary hard drive, bit for bit, to another hardrive. I have
numerous partitions with Windows XP, Vista, and Ubuntu and I would like
another exact copy of this hard drive incase the primary fails. I
would like to be able to literally plug in the secondard, backup drive
into the primary drives cable and have the computer boot as if it were
the original drive. Thanks for your help everyone!

I think Acronis True Image will do it.

Do you know if Acronis will then do incremental backups? Basically,
every night I would like my hard drive to duplicate itself onto a
backup without creating an entirely new image every night.

CopyWipe http://www.terabyteunlimited.com will do the job well. I use
it with 2 SCSI drives (it also works with PATA, SATA, USB & FW) in an
external enclosure with individual power switches. Flip the switches
and boot. It's standalone - floppy or CD. I have 5 partitions,
including C, and they are all reproduced perfectly. It was well worth
the money, but they recently made it freeware. Hard to sweeten the
deal more :-)

Recent, and past, discussions in the Acronis forum make it very unclear as
to how to do a sector by sector backup.
There's no option to force such a backup.
I would not count on True Image for such a backup.
