Author Retrospect: "Decompression failed due to corrupt input data"

Recently tried setting "Compression=True" on one of my backup scripts.

On the first backup, when it got to the compare stage Retro logged a
"Decompression failed due to corrupt input data".

I googled it a little and it sounds like a possible firmware currency issue in
my removable drive.

But it still begs a question: Have my backup sets been corrupted all this time
and it's just that the compression/decompression is uncovering the problem...
and I would have had a problem doing a restore even with non-compressed backups?

If so... Ouch!!!!
