Author migrate from raid array to single bigger drive?

Hi;

my old p4 with IDE raid 0+1 array is too slow and the drives are failing and
I'm going to build into a new x38 MB, core duo or quad system, with fast
SATA drives. I'm sick of raid and just want to image the array onto a new
drive, but I'd like a 500 GB partition, or maybe 2x 250 GB. But I like my
XP-pro OS and don't want to have to reinstall everything.

Is it possible to do this with common software? Can I make a bootable image
without an intmediary file or do I have to make an image and then reinstall
that image yet again to make it bootable? I don't mind doing a system
repair after transfer, I understand that is a requisite, but is this likely
to work?
