Acronis True Image Help Needed...
|
|
| Michael Kicak 2007-12-02, 1:17 pm |
| I recently installed ATI with the hopes of creating an Image on a DVD.
However I can only get the software to Create a Security Zone on the Hard
Drive ( it creates a new particion that can't be accessed by other
programs ) where it stores the image there. this does me no good if the
hard drive fails... and the software appears very simple to operate, but it
does not contain a HIGHLIGHTED BUTTON or link to back up to a DVD.
Do I need to buy an External Drive to store my Image on...???, which I would
perfer not to do...
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me...

Which version of TI are you using ?.
Another(2nd) hard drive is your safest bet.
If your present drive falls over/dies, you can use the image you`ve
created to a new OS drive.#
With a seperate 2nd drive you can save an image of
your existing setup regularly (once a week/month ?),
and never lose very much.
You know it makes sense !.

| All of the above makes sense.
You only make a "Secure Zone" if you are backing up to the same disk, but
even then, you don't have to do that.
You can make a backup image on your DVD drive directly, or place it in a
folder on your disk - it's just a file. Then you can copy it wherever you
wish including DVD. If your disk is NTFS, it will make one large file, if
it's FAT32 it will break it automatically into 4 GB pieces.
