I have some back-up discs created under Norton Ghost 2003, that I
don't seem to be able to view in my Norton Ghost 9 Backup Image
Browser. I keep getting error messages that I don't undrstand. Would
appreciate help!

I've posted a lngthy (!) reply to this twice today, using the "Reply
to Author" link, but neither one has appeared here. Now I'm wondering
if that link goes via e-mail to the author (Meerkat) instead of being
posted here??

Meerkat - Did my two missing "Reply to Author" posts happen to get to
you via e-mail?

Sorry about the mis-cue in making my reply post. Here goes the
lengthy version.

A senior citizen friend's Windows 2000 Pro Edition became corupt.
Some one backed up his whole hard drive (apparently including the
corrupt Windows 2000) on what turned out to be Norton Ghost 2003
discs.
The Tech apparently installed Norton Ghost 2003 on my friend's hard
drive, along with Windows 2000, and gave him a set of 4 discs of the
backup. My friend (he's in a distant state), and sent me what is
supposed to be copies of the 4 discs, and I finally rounded up a copy
of Norton Ghost 2003 a couple of days ago.
When I go into the NG Image Browser and bring up the dialog window to
try and view the files, I get another dialog box that says "Please
select the file for the last segment in this image file." When I
select the only file listed, it just keeps repeating the same
request. When I cancel to get out of the window, I get an error
message "Corruption in image file, or media not present. Not all
files are shown."
Basic question - Should I be able to view the contents of these discs
individually, without having to go through a Restore procedure?
For kicks, my son that I live with tried the Restore process (to an
external back up drive), and at the end of the first disc where it
called for the next disc, it would not recognize the 2nd disc.

My friend doesn't need all of the stuff on the discs restored, just
certain files that we don't have the names of. I have to be see all
of the files and pick out those that he wants restorted, and be able
to work the procedure on my end, so that I can try to talk my friend
through restoration process. Quite a challenge for this senior
citizen! May be a hopeless case!

Today, I walked him through the same procedure described above, and he
gets exactly the same (non) results that I do...
