Is anybody out there using this product in a SAN??? Is it good, bad,
or so-so??? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

My opinion is that it fits perfect in a SAN environment. As with other
high-end backup solution like Netbackup, Tivoli and DataProtector,
I don't see any main problems. If you think about using Dynamic
Device Sharing (DDS) in a heterogeneous SAN or mixed tape/disk
access over the same fc-hba, you should be VERY carefull and well
trained. There are tons of traps.

Good luck,

Rene

we traded Legato Networker for CommVault Galaxy. The support at Legato is
very very bad. One time they accused us for not properly logging a call.
What can you do wrong when you have a support engineer on the phone and tell
him you have a problem. To my oppinion he should ask the questions and come
up with a sollution.

Well thats all behind us and were very happy with CommVault Galaxy.
We us it in a 512 port SAN streched over 3 datacenters with +- 80 windows
servers, 20 Tru64 servers, MS SQL, MS Exchange etc etc.

I've used Legato for over 7 year and allways was very happy with but
development and support started to collapse approximatly 2 years ago.
Somew new features where introduced but again U need very good understanding
of the software.

Kind regards,
