Job Description
A SAN Administrator works under general supervision to support
SAN/NAS/DAS infrastructure and Storage requirements of users and will
be responsible for design, installation, and management of an
Enterprise Storage Infrastructure (Storage Area Network
Infrastructure, Disk Storage Arrays, Storage Management
Systems/Applications). Provide reports on system performance, as well
as future projections and equipment requirements. Design and implement
Storage/SAN management tools and processes. Perform project management
responsibilities supporting management in the evaluation of vendor
performance. Research emerging technologies.
Requirements
· Bachelor's degree in information technology or equivalent
application development experience.· 2-3years of SAN/NAS experience
in administering a mid/large size SAN/NAS infrastructure with 3-5
years of experience in administering mid/large size Unix environment.·
Familiarity with SAN/NAS protocols, topologies and management
software.· Strong Unix fundamentals and scripting skills. ·
Experience in standard RAID configurations and tape backup solutions.·
Experience installing, configuring Unix software and doing
troubleshooting/performance tuning on Unix servers.· Experience with
NAS, SAN, Network Bridge/router/switch and network storage products.·
Experience with Disk-based backup.· Familiarity with Fibre Channel,
iSCSI, FCIP, TOE, Ethernet connectivity based products.· AIX/HPUX
experience preferred.· Experience with EMC storage devices and EMC
Control Center and/or SAN Fabric Design preferred. · Strong written
and verbal communications skills. · Self-motivated, capable of
working independently and within a team.
Functions
· Deploy and manage SAN/NAS hardware and storage subsystems.·
Perform and track storage allocations of SAN storage. · Setup,
install and configure UNIX servers.· Develop scripts for automation
of manual processes.· Create, implement and maintain data life cycle
solution.· Ensures appropriate documentation and that the SAN/NAS
documentation is created and maintained. · Coordinates with other
departments and/or outside vendors to resolve system production
problems.· Adheres to polices, procedures and standards.· Ensures
the accurate and timely communication of the status of assignment, job
responsibilities, and the resolution of problems to the appropriate
parties.· Creates, estimates and determines resource requirements for
assignments and tracks progress against major milestones. · Prepares
status, and special analysis reports using project management
methodologies. · Set-up, install and configure Windows servers.· May
assist in troubleshooting and performance tuning including packages,
procedures, triggers, views, sequences and synonyms. · May orient,
train and assist, more junior level Developer(s) and/or Database
Analyst. · Participates in customer/user meetings as required.·
Maintains industry knowledge and participates in technical training as
recommended or required by manager.· Performs other duties as
assigned.
