Principal switch selection
|
|
|
| I'm looking for more specific info on how the principal switch
selection procedure works. Is there any difference in the procedure
between brands?
When you install switches in the fabric, is the first swith installed
becoming the principal, or is it based on the WWN?
Will there be any case when the principal election leads to disruption
in the network fabric?
With regards

| McData: You can configure switch role, but avoid setting all switches
to "Never principal". If there is no principle, the
fabric
selected the switch with the lowest WWN as principle
switch.
If another switch comming online, all others kept
their active
status.
Brocade: Switch role is not configurable. Principle switch is first
switch
which going online. Others are becomming
Subordinate-Status.
If there are two switches online and connected via
ISL, the switch
witch the lowest WWN number become principle.
If you have Brocade Security license, you can select
one switch
to be principle, and others to get this role if first
one fails.
