Hello,
I have to review possibilities to expand storage in our company. Can anybody
help? We have about 20 Dell PE servers with Intel cpu, including one bigger
file server with 1TB scsi matrix PV-220S. We have also a 500GB Dell PV-650
fibre channel connected to the same file server through a Dell 50F fibre
channel switch.
All servers are running windows NT/2000 server. We use a PV 130T tape
library with two DLT7000 drives to backup these servers. This library is
controlled by CA arcserve 9. Now we think about replacing this library by
library with faster and bigger drives (min. 200GB per casette) to reduce
amount of casettes and expand disk storage. I thought also about making an
automatic archive of seldom used files on tapes with automatic restoring
these files "on demand". At the moment we need about 2-2,5 TB of space on
file server (a part could be on "archive" tapes - about 0,5TB), other
servers have enough space on internal disks.
Can you suggest any well tested solution?
