| I'm not sure if this is the proper newsgroup, so correct me if I'm
wrong. I'm looking to get either a DVD recorder or external harddrive
to back up my 20-50 GB of photos and add to the backups frequently.
This device will be external and attached via USB2 to my notebook computer.
(A) What are the advantages/disadvantages according to the more
experienced utilizers,
(B) Which brands /models of DVD recorders are favored considering all
factors including price, and
(C) Which brands/models of hard drives are favored considering all
factors including price.
thanks in advance,
Jerry C.

Hard drives are best for back up. DVD is best for archiving (i.e. hard
drives for short to medium term storage, DVD for long term storage).

Personally,I've been using Plextor for years and they're [practically
bulletproof. Only ever had one and it was replaced straight away with
no quibbles.

Look at Maxtor and LaCie.
