I am looking to upgrade our Legato NMC server. Currently, our NMC
installation (Version 3.1.Build.100) resides on a two processor (248 MHz)
SUN4u server with 512 Megabytes RAM. We have about two dozen backup
servers and a couple of hundred clients.

We need to move to a new server for two reasons: 1) The SUN4 server is no
longer supported by Sun. 2) Reports take an excessive amount of time to
run. (Some reports are in excess of 30-minutes.)

I am trying to find some info on which platform might be better to
migrate to:
1. Four processor (480 MHz) SUNW,Ultra-4 server SunOS Release 5.8 with
4GB RAM.
2. Two processor DL580G2 Server 3.0GHZ Windows 2003 server with 4GB
RAM

Apparently, EMC does not have any information on what type of server
might be better. They recommended the Unix server, but could not
logically support their reason. About the only info I did get out of EMC
is, the more RAM the better.

Does anybody have any feedback on how NMC performs on a Windows box?

Thanks,
