| I have been manging a 48TB DMX3000 for about the last 10 months with
little training and I have now run into an issue that I am not sure how
to resolve.
We have a VMWare host that we are trying to allocate LUN's to that are
beyond the range that VMWare will recognize (Decimal 256). Because of
this, I understand that I need to perform LUN offsetting that will
allow me to present a LUN as a "masked" LUN number that is within the
range that VMWare can see it. I have been told that I need to perform
this using the SYMMASK command. I have picked apart the command and
have come up with the following command that I think will work:
symmask - sid 619 set lunoffset on 0100 0010 dir 16A -p 0 -wwn
20000000C920B484
The way that I understand this will work is it will take a LUN 100 on
16A Port 0 and present it as LUN 10 to the host at WWN
20000000C920B484.
Now for the questions:
1) Am I correct regarding this command and what it will do?
2) If I wanted to take LUN's 0100 thru 0110 and to 010 thru 020? Is
there a way to specify a range?
3) Are there any additional consideration that I need to take when
doing this?
4) Is there a way to perform this at the host level via ECC? (We are
running ECC5.2.0.1) I know that I can use SDR to do this thru ECC but I
think the LUN would be seen at the masked number for all hosts (not a
specific host) and might cause access issues.
