XP SP2 doesnt recognize 150GB HARD DRIVE

I've just reinstalled windows, My MotherBoard detects the 150 GB Western
Digital with no problems, but in windows nothing.
I had SP1 before and to make my Hard drive work i had to install this
program, Data Life Guard
http://support.wdc.com/download/ind...?cxml=n&pid=999
The problem is that in order for windows to recognize the drive, the
software formatts the drive, and formatting 150 GB of important data is
no option to me.
I need to know what software to install or what to do to be able to use
my HDD without formatting it, or maybe going into the registry ? Thanks

XP SP2 on Asus P5P800 mobo (865PE chipset) recognized 2 Seagate SATA 160GB
drives fine.
Maybe this is the chipset/BIOS issue.

Some of the MBs allow to emulate legacy IDE interface with SATA drives.
Check your BIOS settings for SATA section.
This should do the trick.

Yes. The only drawback is that in this mode both SATA connectors are treated as
master and slave on secondary ATA controller, and thus IO operations of 2 SATA
devices start to be inter-dependent. This lowers the performance.
Nevertheless, this does not require any specific "SATA drivers", and will work
on any OS.
"Native SATA" means that 3rd IDE controller appears, with first SATA connector
mapped to primary master on it and second to secondary master. This 3rd IDE
controller can require some drivers, it is not compatible with standard PC IDE
in terms of hardware registers.
On Intel chipsets like 865PE, the standard XP's Intel IDE driver also supports
this mode. w2k will require the vendor's driver install.
