Let's open this discussion up a bit.

First, you're talking about the storage array when you say the DS8000.
What type of array would you be looking at if you went with EMC. How
many hosts/mainframes will it be supporting. What type of storage
network switches do you have in place right now? How much data are you
currently storing? How much growth do you anticipate in 1, 5, even 10
years?

The reason I ask some of these questions is because they are important
factors when deciding who to go with for your next solution. It
really shouldn't be as cut and dry as IBM or EMC. I think both
companies have merit. But there are also some other key players to
include in your discussion. I would also think about Hitachi and HP
for storage arrays.
