Very simple scenario. 1 LUN from any dynamically expandable RAID disk
subsystem. into 1 disk group into 1 volume with 1 filesystem.

We wish to grow the filesystem and dont want to add another second LUN
to the diskgroup because of lots of reasons, least of which is we paid
lots of money for that functionality in the disk subsystem.

So how do we do it? We can dynamically grow the LUN from the subsystems
side as easy/quick and simply as anything... Now it comes to getting
the OS and VM to recognise it. Solaris you can simply run 'format',
'auto configure' and relabel the disk with the new geometry. This can
be done online while the filesytem is still mounted.... Here comes my
question... How do we now get VxVM to 1. recognise the new geometry and
2. add the new capacity into the excising extent pool of our disk
group.

You may ask the question, why do we have VxVM in the mix in the first
place and I would say to you, that is an excellent question... I have
no idea... That's the way it was setup when I got here.

Any help very much appreciated.

Thanks

I may have answered my own question.

Seems with VxVM 4.1 this has become a possibilty.
