RSS/RSM "object identifier does not represent a valid object"

| Sorry for cross-posting, but I'm really anxious for an answer on this.
RSS/RSM "object identifier does not represent a valid object"
Win 2003 SP1, installed remote storage services (RSS) for an LTO3-
based library. (made the registry setting TapeTypesToSupport so LTO
will be supported.)
The RSS console shows both RSS and removable storage (RSM) plugins. Was
able to load tapes in the library and "see" them there under RSM. Was
able to activate the tapes and move them into the RSS media Pool.
Have a managed volume g:\ of about 700gb. For now, have used simple
default include/exclude settings. Except that (having about 500gb of
data on G I set the desired free space to 75% to force migration to
tape. But whenever I try a RSS "copy files to remote storage" task. (Or
when the scheduled 2:00am task tries to run.) ... I get all kinds of
errors with codes like 4018, 6009, 6012, 6021, most of which contain
the phrase "object identifier does not represent a valid object".
I'm guessing it's the interaction between RSS and RSM. Any ideas would
be greatly appreciated.
