The 2.5" solid state disk using Samsung NANDs has just come out! The
PQI Turbo Industrial OEM, the fastest SSD I've seen under $2000.
According to the the site, http://www.dvnation.com/nand-flash-ssd.html
, it has the following specs:
<1ms access time
- Windows Vista ReadyBoost ready
- silent, lightweight, rugged, no moving parts
- high-altitude and wide tempperature range operation
-10 year data retention.

They also said that SATA versions of the 2.5" and 1.8" drives are
coming out in a couple weeks, as well as 64GB flash disks in all sizes.
Even a 3.5" 64 SSD with SATA AND IDE interfaces!
I guess this stuff really is out now!

I notice that Transcend has similar drives for a lot less. See
www.newegg.com. All of these are far more expensive than similar
amounts of capacity in CF or SD cards. And CF and SD are in turn both
much more expensive per GB than buying flash-based portable audio
