| I am wondering if anyone has contracted with Unisys via EMC via Darwin
Partners for a presales Architect position in the past. This position I
am looking at is for the Southeast US, work from home (presently do and
have no problem with that), 50% travel across the Southeast, etc. I am
intersted in the position as I am at the top of my career potential and
pay rate (only estimate 2% raise a year here out) at my current
employer. I do not want to move into executive management as those
managers are a dime a dozen in my opinion and what I do in the world of
SAN, not too many people know or have experience.
I am 31, have no family responsibilities and have the ability to travel
full-time so, I am would like to read some feedback from current, past
employees of Darwin and Unisys as well as EMC regarding this position.
Obviously everyone has their own opinion about an employer. I am
looking for feedback in regards to prompt weekly payments via Darwin,
reimbursement of personal expenses (possible problems??), growth
opportunity etc, renewal of contract, job description verification and
actual work performed etc. 50% travel or is it truly 90% travel.
I am an expert in the field of SAN focusing on
HDS/EMC/McData/Cisco/Brocade equipment. I truly do not want to lose my
technical edge, but understand that sales is where money can be made
assuming you know how to sell and I do. I may not be running commands
on a daily basis, but will learn equipment from the sales perspective
and with an architectural background, I am sure it will be fun for a
while and educational.
I am presently sitting on a combined salar/bonus of $115k/year working
for the financial industry. I work from home full-time so, it has it's
perks. I am tired of 80+ hours, reorgs, politics etc and want to
clearly think this through before jumping ship as I can probably ride
the wave at the bank for many years and eventually retire with them...
I think ;)
Everyone jokes about the car salesman with a high school diploma, but
what many people forget is he is probably earning in excess of $350k a
year or more depending on his position and what he is selling. IT is
pretty much capped at $100k/year not including pay differential for
cost of living (i.e. San Francisco vs. Kansas City). I am looking to
advance my salary exponentially and believe the only way to do it in
this field is with a contract internationally (I have yet to find) or a
position such as this one with moderate to extensive travel as 90% of
us don't want to do it. I can and feel this would be a good move.
I appreciate any and all posts and look forward to learning more about
these two companies.
