Does anyone know what the QLogic QLA2312F card is? QLogic says it is OEM
for HP. HP says it isn't their card at all.

On insertion to any Wintel PCI system, the entire system freezes and refuses
to even start up the BIOS.

After some googling I found that this card may indeed be a HP OEM
version. HP sells many operating systems and servers. So it may well be
that the card you have was meant for a HP-UX system (just guessing!),
and that it has specific firmware for that OS. Sun for instance sells
the QLA2312 as well, and with their own leadville firmware. A Sun
branded 2312 can never be used as a normal qla2312, and can not be
re-flashed with standard Qlogic firmware. The same may apply to your
QLA2312F.
