Greets,
Anyone using mysql 5.x.x and php 5.x.x under Woody? I'm looking to
switch from SuSE to Debian but I need to know how well Woody supports
the newer versions of mysql and Php. Is Sarge a better candidate? Any
feedback would be appreciated. Thx.

I have never used mysql and php on Debian but I have on RH9.

In general, you are better off using Sarge. The new stable version is going
to be a candidate from Sarge, and any week now.
