| Can Konqueror be made to launch full screen?
I've been through all the settings - but can't find one to do that.
In Windows it would be the properties of the shortcut used to launch the
application. ("Run maximised")
Is there a Linux equivalent?

I do not know the answer to your question, but running maximized and running
fullscreen are two different things
What you can do is the following :
Open Konqueror (this applies to any window). Right click on the topbar.
Advanced > Special Window Settings ...
This is one of the things I miss in KDE that I used to like in GNOME - there
used to be an option - remember window settings.

Sorry about my imprecision.
Thanks for the tip - I wouldn't have thought of right-clicking the title
bar.
Now that I have done so, a veritable cornucopia of options has opened
up.
I can't understand them - and so far my guesses haven't worked - but I'm
sure there will be some documentation somewhere?

Hit F11
I don't know how to automatically launch it in full screen, but I think
theres an option somewhere around that allows you to store the current
view as the default view. Maybe it also saves the maximized state.

What's next? Want us to wipe your XXX for you?
Of course, when the people you are using now (while you hide
behind a common name so that no one can examine your posting
history) get tired of holding your hand and doing your homework
for you, you'll just change newsservers and aliases.
Who will you be next? "Steve"? "John"?

You know, it's fine if you feel sommeone is not deserving of your help,
but is this necessary? Why don't you just keep your hard worked for linux
knowledge to your self and just leave it at that? Or at least leave it
at RTFM.
