Hello Debian users,

I try to install a new server distribution based on Debian Sarge, kernel
2.4.27, but it just makes my Realtek RTL-8029 accessible as eth1. There
is no eth0 nor eth2 in the /etc/network/interfaces file just eth1, but
the 3com nic is mentioned during the boot process.

Has anybody an idea what I have to do to make the 3com nic work?

Here's an excerpt from the /var/log/messages:
(The first and the last line are only included to show that there are no
lines missing concerning the nics.)

Feb 27 22:50:39 sonne kernel: EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered

HBA DRIVER, Rev 6.2.36

I had SuSE Linux from release 7.x to 9.x installed on the same hardware
and the 3com nic was correctly installed/configured, so the hardware
seems to be OK.

Thanks for paying attention.

Hello Debian Users,

do you have any suggestions to solve the problem? Are you missing any
information about the problem or system or whatever? Which information
do I have to add for you?

Please, give me a hint.

No answer required any more, got a hint from another forum, which solved
the problem successfully.
