Hi,

I'm having a problem with the fact the the mount command closes the
CD-drawer if it is open.

I am developing a stand alone background music system. The user only
has access to 2 buttons which allow skipping of a track and category
change.

So in order for the customer to update the box with music, they just
enter a CD and it all magically updates the box with music !

I have written a Java program that attempts to mount the CD drawer
every 5-10 seconds, of course if the drawer is closed and a CD is
inserted, this works just fine for what I need. Unfortunately when the
drawer is opened, the drawer shuts anywhere between 1-5 seconds. As
you can imagine this would be quite frustrating to the user.

Is there a way to disable this action ?

I have tried auto-mounting using autofs but I get errors when trying to
install autofs.

This is my current kernal and distribution information:

Linux version 2.6.5-impact-mp-7 (root@midi-plexus) (gcc version 2.95.4
20011002 (Debian prerelease)) #1 Wed Apr 21 10:37:15 BST 2004

Running Debian woody I believe.

This is the error I get when trying to run autofs:

Starting automounter: loading autofs4 kernel module,FATAL: Module
autofs4 not found.

I am no linux guru but I don't think my kernel is using modules ???
/etc/modules does not exist.

Any help would be appreciated, this is really bugging me,

Thanks in advance,

Ronan.

Woody is an antique now. Try upgrading to Sarge to see if the autmounter
works any better for you.
