Hi

I just installed Debian sarge on a new server. In spite of setting the
network details correctly (FQDN, static IP address, gateway, nameservers),
the server is unable to ping the gateway IP address.

The output of route -n is identical to that of another Debian machine on
the same network (as is /etc/resolv.conf), while route -e hangs, before
giving a non-resolved IP address in the gateway field.

Interface eth0 is up. Could a module mismatch be a problem ? The said
machine has two interface cards and loads modules tg3 and e1000. The same
server (with the same hardware - even the ethernet cable plugged into the
same card) was running Slackware without any problems until this evening.

Any things I could check ?

Thanks.
