| Hi!
I just installed Debian Sarge:
XFree86 Version 4.3.0.1 (Debian 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14 20050601051219
fabbione@fabbione.net)
Release Date: 15 August 2003
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.6
Build Operating System: Linux 2.4.29-pre2 i686 [ELF]
Build Date: 01 June 2005
With resolution 1024x786, the fonts are a bit large.
(firefox - menues / .icewm taskbar ...)
How can I get them a bit smaller?
My XF86Config-4 (part of it):
########################################
##############################
Section "Files"
FontPath "unix/:7100" # local font server
FontPath "unix/:7101" # xfg-xtt ??
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/"
# if the local font server has problems, we can fall back on these
FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc"
FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/cyrillic"
FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/:unscaled"

If you want X itself to scale your fonts, it might be tough job...
you'd better pass the job over to your window manager.
Desktops such as GNOME, KDE, have convenient utilities
to change your display font size.

I don't use Desktops like KDE / Gnome because I guess they are just
overhead. I just work with the window-manager icewm.
There is a configurtation-file, where you can change Fonts. I changed the
size there, but without any result so far....
Next I could try .Xresourses
In the moment I changed the resolution to 1280x1024.
I wasted already to much time. I thought it would be easy and I just missed
something.
Anyway - tanks for the help!
