screen comes to mind.
apt-get -y install screen && man screen

if that's not what you're looking for, perhaps daemontools is (non-free
due to DJB's non-gpl/bsd licence)

apt-get -y install daemontools-installer
build-daemontools
(follow instructions)
install it
http://cr.yp.to/daemontools.html (rtfm)
