Installing 'Sid' from scratch?

Is is possible to install Debian 'Sid' from scratch, or do I have to
intall 'Sarge' first and then upgrade?
Also, is 'synaptic' the best tool for this, or is there a better way?

If you use the business-card sarge ISO, it'll offer to install unstable if
you use the expert mode. It's likely to fail however - upgrading from sarge
is recommended.

I use aptitude, myself.

It's perfectly possible, if you boot "expert" or "expert26" instead of
the default installation. However, Sid/Unstable is rather messy at
present, so you might be better off using Etch/Testing for a week or
two unless you want to experience the closest Debian ever comes to
"Dependency Hell".

I use aptitude.

just need debootstrap or pbuilder to create a chroot environment together
with a knoppix livecd, maybe a kernel image package also if no network
wk presents.
