[ubuntu] breaking dependencies

I tried to compiled my own zlib-1.2.3, so I removed zlib1g and
zlib1g-dev, then built+checkinstall the zlib-1.2.3.
Now aptitude/synaptic reports 179 broken dependencies. How could shut
their mouths and tell them to trust me?
Does debian packagement uses the filenames in the package for dependency
check or just the package name?

Assuming you had your reasons for doing so, please note you now need
to check for any security problems yourself, as you've outsmarted the
package management system.

Just the package name, so probably the package 'equivs' will help you.
Cheers,

I am willing to accept the risk.

Thanks. Seems to me RPM is easier to handle as it only checks the files.
