Hi,

How do I configure GRUB? I can't find a grub.conf file in the usual (on
Gentoo anyway) location: /boot/grub/grub.conf

Thanks

Thank you for that, appreciate it. However, I want the 'standard Debian' way
of configuring GRUB, using whatever facilities were used to configure it in
the first place.

Is /boot/grub/menu.lst what you are looking for?

You need to edit /boot/grub/menu.lst (not grub.conf). Read the
comments in the file to see how to edit it the Debian way.

After editing the file, run update-grub to apply your configuration
changes to the "automagic" part of the file.

The reason you need to be careful about changing the Debian part of
the file is that it's rewritten when a packaged kernel image is
installed or upgraded.
