I tried the driver from ATI, ran the installer, edited my xf86 config to
load the new driver. It worked :-) however when I test the OpenGL
screensavers, they are dreadfully slow, its like watching them frame
by frame! Is this normal?

The machine is a Pentium 4, 3Ghz 2MB L2 Cache and 1GB of DDR 400 RAM. So
the machine has plenty of grunt.

Are the drivers just not as well written as the win32 ones?
