stoping gam_server ?

| Hi
my system (debian sid) has a process running "gam_server" that is eating to
much memory, in fact, it's memory allocation is growing by the second.
i have 1Gb of ram plus 2Gb of swap, and last time i've "kill" gam_server it
freed 800Mb of memory.
killing it wont solve this problem cause for every kill, a new gam_server
starts running.
i've been reading a little about gamin and it says that uses FAM. well i
don't need FAM, FAM use to prevent me unmounts of cd's and dvd's, so i
remove FAM from the init so it won't start at boot. So, i do think i don't
need gam_server to work too.
uninstalling "gamin" is not possible because of dependencies...
what can we do about this?
all this eating of memory is a known bug to be solved soon? if that is the
case, i'll wait for the correction.
until then, i'll kill gam-server every time i feel my system looses
performance.
Thanks

| an upgrade and correction
gam_server is not just eating memory, is also stealling CPU time, and
growing by the second... i can see the numbers grow in the process list,
every second they change to a bigger number.
