Installed Etch from business card iso, even used the graphical installer
(which kinda worked)

My problem is - that after getting xorg working with the 'standard' nv
driver, I installed the Nvidia driver using a switch to output the modules
to xorg instead or xfree86. This worked fine, I get the logo then kdm as
usual. When I login however, there is no startup sound, and any sound event
generated, freezes kde/kdm.

I changed xorg back to using nv and all sounds fine.

Does the Nvidia driver bork the PCI systems and kill sound or something ??

I don't mind using nv, but would prefer nvidia - plays a little better

Helpful hints welcomed.
