| Hi
I am new to linux. I have installed the first two disks on a P2. I
boots and I guess it runs ok. But I have 12 more disks of the set that
I can't load. I have tried the command line and also the gui. Can
someone point me in the right direction to install these programs.

If the disks have been burned properly, use apt-cdrom to register each
disk so you can install software from the disks using apt-get, aptitude
or synaptic. Each time you install a package you will be prompted for
which disk(s) to insert, unless a newer version is available online.

I have the gui working, I click the computer icon, click cd-rom1 icon
and it changes to cd-rom1: debian 3.1r2 i386.bin-2. I click on that
and some folders and files come up including autorun.bat. I click on
that and the screen changes to gedit and just sits there.I have tried
clicking on other folders and files but accomplished nothing. If you
can tell me what the next step is to load these new programs I would
appreaciate it. thanks

You are probably going to have to give more info if you want a good
answer. What gui are you using? What programs are you trying to start?
If you apt-get install icewm there will be a menu at the lower left
corner. Just like Windoze start menu. You can start the programs from
there.
Do you have firefox installed? Do you have gnome terminal installed?
Try right-clicking anywhere on the desktop. Is there a menu?
