Am looking at moving to Debian from Gentoo and was wondering which version
of KDE is used in the stable branch as I'm currently using 3.5.2 and am
unwilling to loose to many features such a gtalk and yahoo messenger
capabilities in kopete

The present stable Debian distro is over a year old, but a newer KDE
might be available as a backport. Or you might try Kubuntu.

Debian 3.1 (the current stable) has KDE 3.3.2.

Kopete 3.3.2 seems to have Yahoo Messenger capability
(although I haven't tested it).
