I've solve the printing issue, so there is no need to reply to that. I've
also resolved my other issues.

I did this;

apt-get install gdm kdm

chose kdm

Prior I installed fluxbox.

That worked. Its so awkward working with 4 different distros of linux when
your evaluating them and all of the syntax gets out of whack.

And the problem with cups and printer was?

I would have used only one, and xdm. As you only need one, and xdm
probobly uses less resources of those three (xdm, gdm and kdm). You
can still use different environments as a user. So logging in with
kdm, you can use Gnome as desk top manager, same with gdm and Gnome.
