You need to reboot soon

| I upgraded my Debian Sarge root server recently and got this message:
<message>
You are attempting to install a kernel version that is the same as
the version you are currently running (version 2.6.8-3-686). The
modules
list is quite likely to have been changed, and the modules dependency
file /lib/modules/2.6.8-3-686/modules.dep needs to be re-built. It
can not be built correctly right now, since the module list for the
running kernel are likely to be different from the kernel installed.
I am creating a new modules.dep file, but that may not be
correct. It shall be regenerated correctly at next reboot.
I repeat: you have to reboot in order for the modules file to be
created correctly. Until you reboot, it may be impossible to load
some modules. Reboot as soon as this installation is finished (Do not
reboot right now, since you may not be able to boot back up until
installation is over, but boot immediately after). I cannot stress
that too much. You need to reboot soon.
Please hit Return to continue.
</message>
Even when I rebooted the box the same message was displayed after the
next upgrade. Otherwise there are no problems. What should I do about
it?

The message will be displayed every time there's a security fix for
the kernel.

You should reboot when advised to do so.

I just rebooted right on the spot
as soon as I saw that "Rebbot soon" message,
I did not even wait for the installation to finish
and I figured enough had been done so it
would be able to resume after the reboot (this was a while ago
when i had sarge and was upgrading to etch).
The reboot went fine and then software updater told
me it had a lot of updates for me. I clicked on that icon
and the updates went OK.
I'm with SID now.

This did not work for me. I am still getting this message on every
upgrade. However, the box works fine.
