I can't get pan to connect to news server. Re-installing didn't solve
problem. I'm using a new etch system.
I have compared the configuration of a working SuSE system and found no
differences.
Any ideas. Bob

This is all I can show you, it doesn't do much. I think the lack of
"newsgroups.ynm" is because it can't connect.

Wed Dec 5 10:29:43 2007 - Pan 0.119 started
Wed Dec 5 10:29:43 2007 - Error opening file
"/home/bobh/.pan2/newsgroups.ynm"
No such file or directory

Wed Dec 5 10:29:43 2007 - Loaded data backend in 0.0 seconds

Thanks, Bob

Here the file is empty

cannabis:/home/repo# cat /home/repo/.pan2/newsgroups.ynm
# Permissions: y means posting ok; n means posting not okay; m means
#moderated.
# Since almost all groups allow posting, Pan assumes that as the default.
# Only moderated or no-posting groups are listed here.
cannabis:/home/repo#

Perhaps you can create it ?

You have opened a new line of inquiry. I'm not sure I understand it.

The subject installation has one file named - newsgroups - and has - xov
extension.

My SuSE box has 3 files -.dsc .ynm .xov

My problem is that pan does not connect to server and therefore doesn't
create the correct newsgroups files.

I need some good documentation for pan. Thanks, Bob

Can you connect to a different server, like aioe for example?
