Author how do you remove chroot sessions

I'm running AMD64 Lenny, so I have some things (not many anymore) that
run in a 32bit chroot. When I reboot, which fortunately isn't often, the
computer restores every chroot session that was ever still open when it
was shut down. This means the list keeps getting bigger.

How can I clear out the chroot sessions so they don't get restored?
