Why is the sound in the browsers (iceape in specific,
but also epiphany and konquerer) always breaking?
It seems like every month I have to figure
out yet another reason why it is broken. It was
working over the weekend, but after doing an apt-get
update and a reboot, it no longer works.
Sometimes when it gets broken, I can fix it
by doing an alsaconf. This time it still refuses to
work.
Starting the browser from a terminal window, I get the
following error message continuously repeated.
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:866 snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
So, what's been changed to make it break this time?

Wish I could help you directly - perhaps someone here can. Reason I'm
replying is to suggest, if you get no help in this news group, your
query be sent to a mailing list, or you try IRC. Here's a URL which may
assist: http://www.debian.org/support#mail_lists
