"Deb" "Ian" as in the names of the two people (Ian and his then
girlfriend, now wife Deb)
Quote: "Since many people have asked, Debian is pronounced /
=CB=88de.bi.=C9=99n/. It comes from the names of the creator of Debian, Ian
Murdock, and his wife, Debra."

Yet, Ian can be pronounced with a hard or soft "I" depending on where in
the world you come from.
To me, it's "deb-ee-an."
