Hi,

I'm using kubuntu and I can't extract ace files with ark or xarchiver
although I can with Winace under Win XP.

Do I have install a specific file ?

Thanx for your help.

Apparently, ACE is a propriatary compression technology. Since the
compression technique is propriatary and closed, you are unlikely to
find an opensource tool that will be able to uncompress the data. You
have to use a tool from Winace to "unace" your file.

Fortunately for you, Winace provides an "UnAce for Linux", and it
looks like you can download and install it from http://www.winace.com/files/linunace25.tgz

Be aware, this is a propriatary tool, with a propriatary installation
- you are unlikely to get a lot of help from the Linux fora on this
(it doesn't seem to use Debian's installation process). If you need
help or support, you'll probably have to go to (and should first go
to) the WinAce support line.

Thanx for your answer. I'll try to don't use .ace files for the
future... ;-) I prefer use opensource tools.

Thanx
